Palma de Mallorca is located in the Mediterranean climatic zone. Summers are dry and hot, and winters are moderate, rainy and windy. If you want to see the sights of Palma de Mallorca, you should start from the historic district, known as Ciutat Vella. The labyrinth of narrow streets will remind you of the city’s Arabic history. The most important monument is the wonderful, massive, Gothic cathedral called La Seu. It is the most beautiful temple in Spain. Its construction was commenced in 1230 and took around 400 years. It has an area of as many as 6,600 m2. It is neighboured by Arab baths and luxuriant Ca'n Fontirroig gardens, full of cactuses, palm trees and ferns. 
Other places to see are the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, Plaça Major, and Es Baluard – a museum with an impressive collection of modern art. The city’s showpiece is the boulevard called Passeig Maritim.
